This sweet chutney is a one stop chutney recipe for chaat items like paani puri, masala puri, bhel puri, aloo tikki, samosas etc.
INGREDIENTS:
- Tamarind, lemon sized soaked in a cup of water
- 8 to 12 dates soaked in water
- 6 to 8 tbsp jaggery
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp jeera
- 12 tsp fennel
- 1/2 tsp salt
METHOD:
- In a pan, dry roast jeera and fennel seeds for a minute.
- Powder them in a mortar and pestle. Keep aside.
- Boil the soaked dates in water for about 5 to 6 minutes.
- Once its cooled, grind it into a smooth paste.
- To the ground paste add tamarind water, red chilli powder, salt, jaggery and powdered jeera and fennel.
- Boil the mixture in a medium low flame until it attains a desired consistency.
