Sweet Chutney - Dates & Tamarind Chutney


This sweet chutney is a one stop chutney recipe for chaat items like paani puri, masala puri, bhel puri, aloo tikki, samosas etc. 


INGREDIENTS:

  • Tamarind, lemon sized soaked in a cup of water
  • 8 to 12 dates soaked in water
  • 6 to 8 tbsp jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp jeera
  • 12 tsp fennel
  • 1/2 tsp salt

METHOD:

  1. In a pan, dry roast jeera and fennel seeds for a minute.
  2. Powder them in a mortar and pestle. Keep aside.
  3. Boil the soaked dates in water for about 5 to 6 minutes.
  4. Once its cooled, grind it into a smooth paste.
  5. To the ground paste add tamarind water, red chilli powder, salt, jaggery and powdered jeera and fennel.
  6. Boil the mixture in a medium low flame until it attains a desired consistency.
