Aloo Poori


Aloo Poori or Aloo ki Poori is a perfect breakfast or dinner recipe that tastes great and delicious. These are prepared by adding mashed potatoes into the wheat flour with a few spices. Aloo pooris are easy to prepare just like the regular ones and are enjoyed by everyone including kids.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 2 to 3 medium sized potatoes, boiled and grated
  • 1 tbsp chiroti rava
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • Salt, as required
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Water, as required
METHOD:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, add wheat flour, chiroti rava and grated potato.
  2. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, cumin seeds, salt and coriander leaves. Mix well. 
  3. Add water little by little and knead well to form a stiff dough.
  4. Make a tight and stiff dough to prepare pooris. 
  5. Divide the dough into lemon size balls.
  6. Roll them into even circles using rolling pin.
  7. Meanwhile heat oil for deep frying in a pan.
  8. When the oil is sufficiently hot, add one rolled poori.
  9. Press it with a spoon to puff it up.
  10. Once it puffs up turn it over.
  11. Fry them until light golden brown in color. Remove it onto a tissue paper to remove excess oil.
  12. Serve them hot with any gravy or pickle.
