Bread Bonda


Bread bonda is a deep fried bread snack which is a popular street food . You can enjoy it on a winter evening, a rainy day, or serve it at a house party, kids party, kitty party etc. Bread bonda is one of my favorite snack which can be made in a jiffy. 

INGREDIENTS:
  • 8 slices white bread
  • 4 medium sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup frozen green peas
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying
METHOD:
  1. Heat a tbsp of oil in a pan. Add chopped green chillies, onions and saute it well.
  2. When onions are transparent, on a low flame red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder. Mix well. 
  3. Add boiled and mashed potatoes, salt and mix them well.
  4. Switch off the flame. Add finely chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool down. Meanwhile heat oil in a deep pan for deep frying.
  6. Once the mixture cools down, divide them into equal portions of oval shaped balls.
  7. Cut the edges of the bread. Take 1/2 cup of water in a cup.
  8. Dip the a bread slice into the water and squeeze it immediately. 
  9. Now place one portion of the mixture in center of the bread and and fold the edges like a bread roll.
  10. When oil is hot enough, fry them until golden brown and crispy on a medium flame.
  11. Remove them onto a kitchen towel. Repeat the same steps to all the bread slices.
  12. Serve it hot with mint chutney or tomato ketchup with a hot cup of chai.
